Are You Feeling Down?

Psalm 42:5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and [why] art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him [for] the help of his countenance.

~Psalm 42:11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, [who is] the health of my countenance, and my God.

Psalm 43:5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, [who is] the health of my countenance, and my God.

When you feel down, teen girl, what do you do? Do you turn to your friends and tell them all about it? Do you seek God’s Word? The Psalmist, David, surely did and you can follow his example. There are three things we can learn from these verses: (1) Hope in God, (2) he praised Him, and (2) God is our health (mental and spiritually).

Think about these things for a bit and let it sink in. David had such a relationship with God that he knew he could hope in God – he knew that God would always work things out. This wonderful hope caused him to praise God in advance for the blessings that were to come. In doing this, David’s mental health (his attitude) went from being down to being encouraged.

How about you, teen girl? Don’t you want permanent results to your problems? Telling your problems to your friends doesn’t solve them at all. But God can and will solve your problems each and every time if you trust Him to do this work in your life. That’s where reading your Bible is important 🙂 It is in your Bible that you will get the “food” that you need to make it through each and every day.
