Attention Seekers

You’ve seen them … girls on Facebook or Myspace who take pictures of themselves in clothing that reveals their bodies to all of man kind. 😦 How sad that these teen girls feel they have to show their bodies to get attention from boys! It’s all about “me, me, me”! The Kardashian girls are like this. They flaunt their flesh for all to see and yet look at the drama in their lives! Divorce, bad publicity, horrible comments about their sexuality are what make the news!

Girls with these motives will only get the attention of boys who will want one thing – sex! They won’t attract Godly boys who want a meaningful relationship.

In your opinion, teen girl, do you think this type of girl is prideful? What does the Bible have to say about such actions?

James 4:6 – But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

God will give special favor (grace) to the teen girl who is humble. What does that mean? God will be pleased with a teen girl’s humble attitude and will put a boy in her life that will love her for who she is, not what he “can get out of her”!

Romans 12:3 – For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think [of himself] more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

People who put pictures up of themselves and show off their bodies are seeking attention. They want people to tell them how good/beautiful they look. Are you doing this, teen girl? The Bible says:

James 4:10 – Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

The Bible also says that you are seeking after your “flesh.” This means that you have more interest in worldly things than you do in Godly things.

Romans 8:5-8 – For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

After salvation, we are to seek those things which God would be pleased with. Being obsessed with our bodies, boys, music, movies, movie stars, etc. are things of the flesh. They do not glorify God at all. These are things that one does before salvation, not after. After we are saved, we should be seeking to be more like Jesus Christ and, therefore, putting away those things which take our minds off Him.

Ephesians 4:22 – That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

If you are struggling with this sin, confess it to God and then spend time reading your Bible. When the Holy Spirit shows you that you are sinning or that you should change in an area, obey Him and forsake it! You will be amazed at how much you grow more like Christ when you give up those things of the world!
