“By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”
What kind of fruit are you bearing as children of the King? Are you praising Him when you speak? Are you praising Him with your actions? Or do you bring shame to Him? Do you thank Him for everything, even the not-so-good things? These are the types of fruit that you bear when you are growing as a Christian.
How can you grow and bear good spiritual fruit? Just like any garden needs sun, rain and good soil to grow good and healthy fruit, so does the believer. You need the Son (1 John 5:12) – you need the water of the word of God (Ephesians 5:26) – and you need the convicting of the Holy Spirit in your life (John 14:26).
You can either bear good fruit, spotted fruit or rotten fruit. They all reflect the condition of your spiritual walk, teen girl. Any mature Christian can watch “your walk” and be able to tell how much time you spend with the Lord and living for Him. A tree doesn’t grow rotten fruit – it bears good fruit. Then the fruit parts from the tree and falls to the ground – that is when the fruit rots. When you separate yourself from the Tree (Jesus Christ) and walk the way of the world, your fruit will rot – in other words, your actions will start to reflect that of the world and people will not be able to recognize any godly spiritual fruit in you. Be careful to stay close to the Tree so you can have good fruit! 🙂
