How to be Saved

The first thing to salvation is to admit that you are sinner, just like the rest of mankind. There is nothing wrong with being afraid to go to hell. Jesus preached a lot about hell and didn’t want people to go there either. So that’s a good thing! 🙂 Take a Bible that you can follow along with while reading the verses below. I use the King James Bible because the newer versions have a lot of missing verses. If you don’t have one, you can look them up online at

The Bible says in Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

That means there’s not a person on earth that is without sin – that is what righteous means here.

Also, look at Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

So this verse leaves no doubt that EVERYONE has sinned and we all fall short of God’s glory!

We do not need to try to clean up our lives before getting saved because it is impossible not to sin. After salvation, however, the Holy Spirit of God helps us to clean up our lives. Look at the next verse:

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

So this tells me that Jesus Christ, who is God, died for you while you were still a sinner! Why? Because God loves you. 🙂

He knows that you can’t clean up your own life. No one can. We can do OK for a few days but then turn around and sin again. With even just one sin, we cannot enter Heaven, and God knew this. So He sent Jesus to take on human form, He lived a sinless life, and was the perfect sacrifice offered to God to take away our sins! That’s how much God loves us! He doesn’t want us to be punished in hell – He wants us to go to Heaven! So He gave Himself up for YOU! What love!! ❤

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Every sin has a penalty – even only one sin keeps us out of Heaven. The penalty is death and eternal life in hell where the body never dies and is burned for all eternity. If you’ve ever burned your finger on an iron, you’ll know a little bit of the pain that will be felt.  The Bible says:

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

So God’s gift to us was His own Son and Jesus’ death on the cross provided us the gift of eternal life! What a joy!!!

If you understand all the verses so far, now you’re ready to get saved J So how does one get saved?

Acts 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ

The Bible says that you have to have repentance toward God. That means that if you were a liar, you’ll stop lying. If you were a stealer (a thief), you will steal no more. Repentance means that you are so sorry for your sin and you know that it hurts God and you don’t want to do that anymore. You change your attitude toward sin – you no longer want to have pleasure in committing sins but you want to please God instead. The second part of the verse above says “faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” Faith in Jesus means that you know He’s God, He came to earth by a virgin, Mary, He lived a sinless life and died on the cross to pay for your sin. He arose from the dead three days later and went to Heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Father. That is the Gospel. If you believe this Gospel by faith, then you are ready to be saved.
The Bible says:

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Put your name there: For if Kate shall call upon the name of the Lord, Kate shall be saved 🙂

Also, look at:

Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

So if you are ready to be saved, kneel by your bed and pray to God and admit you are a sinner and you need the salvation that He has provided to you through Jesus Christ, His Son. Ask for God’s forgiveness and His help to live a life that’s evident of repentance. Ask God to reveal Himself to you through His Word. Your prayer might go something like this:

Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you seeking salvation through your Son Jesus. I willingly admit I’m a sinner and I want to repent of those sins. Come into my life, save me, and help me to live for you! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Next, open the Bible to the Gospel of John in the New Testament and read what God says about Jesus, about you, and about being born again. Read the Book of John three times so you can understand what you have done to be born again and what Jesus has done for you! This book will help you to fall in love with Jesus 🙂 After all, He died for you 🙂

If you do not have a King James Bible, please send me your address and I will have one mailed to you free of charge.

God will help you as a new Christian because He loves you. You need to look for a local church where God’s word is preached. If you need help locating one, let me know and I can help find a church close by. The Bible says that we are to desire God’s word like a newborn baby desires mother’s milk. 1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

Aren’t you hungry to know the truth? Water baptism is one of the ways you first show that you have been joined to Jesus. This is an action, and actions will not save you. However, it is an act of obedience and a symbol of commitment. The symbolism is this: When you go down in the water you show that you have been crucified and buried with Him, and when you come up out of the water you show that you have been raised to walk with Him in newness of life.

You are a child of GOD now! 🙂

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

If you have ANY questions, whatsoever, I am here to answer them. I also have a Bible study series that will help you learn what the Bible has to say about your new walk as a Christian. If you would like me to disciple you, I would be happy to do so 🙂
