Living in an Anti-Christian World

Unless you are homeschooled or go to a Christian school, you live around and are educated by the world. This is not new – it has been going on for a very long time. State schools began in Boston in 1635 so the devil has had plenty of time to deposit his wickedness in their halls. So what does a Christian teen girl do if she has to go to public school? The average student spends at least five and a half hours a week day in school. Then that student spends countless hours studying from their curriculum. Is it any wonder that Christians teenagers struggle? Not only are teens going through hormonal changes but they are taught the world’s ways to deal with those changes.

How can you deal with the world’s influences in day-to-day living? In my opinion, God’s influence in your life must be greater than the world’s influence. It’s not only true for you but it’s true for any Christian. You can’t expect to go to church two/three times a week and that teaching be enough to compensate over what you’ve learned in school. Not only does the school curriculum influence you, teen girl, but you have the influence of all those students who are a part of your daily life as well. Their own family life makes up their belief system and they will be sure to influence you in one way or another.

The best thing for you to do if you do not have a choice of where you go to school is to make the Bible the most important part of your life. It has the answers to everything you need to know in life and will only influence you in a godly way. If you are a born-again teen girl, your heart belongs to the Lord. Your old nature will be battling against your new nature on a daily basis. You’ve felt that tug at your heart when you’re doing something you know would not please God, right? The more you submit to the Holy Spirit and your new nature, that battle will decrease as you grow spiritually.

2 Co 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

You won’t be sinless but you will sin less day by day. The only way to be “in Christ” is to be born again. Once you are, Christ gives you a new heart (spiritually speaking). Your desires will be to do what is right. You will feel that every time you are tempted to sin. So teen girl, if you are struggling to live in an ungodly world, make the Bible more a part of your life. Get up a half hour early and spend time in reading and praying. Talk to the Lord as you would talk to a friend. Imagine Him in a chair next to you and tell Him what’s going on in your life. Yes, He already knows, but He wants to hear from you. The longer you have this routine in your life, the more you will want to spend time doing it.

Also, if you have a choice of homeschooling, take on that responsibility. This will help you a great deal in removing some of the world from your daily life. It’s worth a talk with your parents. 🙂
